Tullahoma Dec 2011
Our newly formed unit arrived at our first battle together in the early morning hours, in Tennessee. The Tulahoma National Guard training facility was jam packed with reenactors of all kinds, and from several different places across the
U.S., some as far away as Texas. Their were SS troops, Austrian Troops, Grossdeutschland, and of course us, the 30th Division. The U.S. Army had many units as well fighting against us. Even the British Paratroopers, the Red Devils, were present.
We all strapped on our gear, loaded our weapons, and piled into our vehicles. Driving through the freezing cold to our destination, the battle was about to begin. The German commander gave the safety briefing, explained our mission, and off to fight we went.
The day consisted of four major battles, lasting up to an hour a piece at times. The U.S. soldiers attacked our positions relentlessly all day. Coming from every flank, sometimes even behind us, they took us by surprise many times. They advanced over and over again, as we repelled the endless invasion. They fought hard but in the end, a German war plane attacked from the sky, firing a heavy load on the unsuspecting ground troops below. This, along with our undying desire to fight to the end, destroyed what was left of the allied attackers.
The 30th held our ground, fought fast and hard, and in the end we were victorious. We hope to keep our unit at a level unmatched by any other in the reenactment community. We were only six strong all day, but with the help of Grossdeutschland, we prevailed.
